Like many organizations around the globe, The Scottish Rite has been using Zoom to conduct meetings – and to promote fun and fellowship – among its members during the pandemic. The popular video meeting app has a multitude of features that make connecting virtually a breeze. Here are some tips to improve your next Zoom meeting:
Mute audio and turn off camera by default – To do it, go to Settings > Audio > Mute microphone when joining a meeting, and then Settings > Video > Turn off my video when joining a meeting.
Mute and unmute with the space bar – You don’t have to click the microphone button every time you want to speak or mute yourself. Simply press and hold the spacebar on your keyboard to mute or unmute your microphone.
Remember meeting etiquette – With Zoom meetings taking place outside of temples, etiquette is more important than ever. Try to find a quiet, uncluttered area. Don’t eat on-camera. Use the “raise hand” function if you want to speak. React using the “thumbs up” or “clapping” emoji so you don’t interrupt. Finally, if you need to take a break, turn your camera off so you don’t unwittingly become the next viral video sensation.
